The place with the good vibrations
We helped Podimo find and design their new studio- & office spaces in Helsinki. Podimo is a podcast subscription service. The aim was to create a welcoming homebase that would appeal to visiting podcast hosts and guests, as well as their own staff. The interior concept is built around sound waves. Hints of this are subtly hidden in various elements and furniture. Most visibly it can be seen in the custom designed wall rug and the studio acoustic elements. In our typical fashion, some of the furniture was sourced second-hand to reduce the carbon footprint.

Finding a space, lease negotiations and designs
Podimo wanted not only a comfortable office for their own staff, but to also attract podcasters to come record their shows, work and spend time at their homebase in the center of town. This meant that the studio was an important factor. We first helped Podimo search for a viable space. The space that was found had been previously renovated, so for the most part we were able to avoid unnecessary construction. One small yet important change was made though, as a meeting room was repurposed into the studio. Creating a space with great acoustics, with aesthetic yet simple integrated technical solutions, that was easy to use and adaptable to dozens of different podcasts made designing the studio a fun challenge. The outcome is functional and memorable, and by now maybe even familiar from the background of many popular podcasts.
The office has many different types of spaces for work, including a quiet zone, phone booths, flexible project team tables and more relaxed lounge areas. This way different tasks always have a suitable place, increasing the functionality of the office. The layout is also planned to accomodate for Podimo's incoming growth, by not having anything too fixed so that furniture can be adjusted. Part of the furniture items in the office we were able to source second-hand. We also designed an eyecatching custom wall rug to add soul to the spaces.
